Lemony Snicket has been hired to investigate the theft of the Bombinating Beast. Snicket and his chaperone investigate the theft to discover that the statue wasn't stolen in the first place and Snicket finds himself getting into trouble that he wasn't meant to. Hangfire will do anything to get the statue, tying people up and kidnapping the father of Snicket's friend, Ellington Feint. But Snicket still doesn't get why...
